Howard drama is worse than Melo's couple years ago... I know the Magic is trying to get the best return they can, but they kept stopping the talk after something is about to happen...

Speaking of the Magic, they have just hired Jacque Vaughn as their new head coach. Really? Why don't they give Pat Ewing a shot at the job? Or how about Brian Shaw for that matter? Jacque Vaughn? Wow!

Haven't posted here for a while... wow, how things have changed!

As you all knew by now, D12 is now a Lakers, while Bynum was shipped to the 76ers. All in all, for score keeping purposes, the Lakers got Nash and D12 for basically just Odom + Bynum and a few future draft picks that they likely didn't plan to keep in the first place. Looking back it turns out quite well for LA.

It's almost like when they got Pau from Memphis...  Really don't understand what Orlando's head office was doing...  I am sure they could have much better deal from other teams than Lakers...

Not really. Knowing the Magic only have two choices between losing D12 for nothing via free agency, or get something back via trade, they were never going to get any better deal out of it. The new Magic GM just doesn't know what he is doing.

Oh, and how about the Olympics Men's basketball gold medal game? Much like in 2008, Spain was HARD to beat for Team USA. And how about Pau Gasol? When pretty much everyone I know says he is washed up, and he gave us all a beast showing! I hope Mike Brown was watching it and figure out how to use Pau. Then again, with Nash handling the ball now, I think Pau will get the ball more!

Haven't been around since the summer, and am not sure if everyone is still around.

Anyway, right before the start of the season, the Thunder failed to reach a contract extension with James Harden, and they ended up trading him to Houston for Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and others.

Thunder got no choice on that because of the salary cap..both Ibaka and Harden would require huge salary deals and Thunder can only afford one, so this made harden expendable as quality low-post player like Ibaka is hard to acquire in the market.

You are mostly correct, but then if Harden was willing to take around $5M or so less total (I think), he could've helped the Thunder save in luxury tax, as well as staying put. Sure, maybe he wanted to be a full-time starter now, who knows?

Then again, no disrespecting Harden at all, but I think he will suck in Houston. He reminds me of Ben Gordon! When Gordon was playing for the Bulls, like Harden, he was their top guy off the bench and was great as a part-time starter. Once he decided to move on to the Pistons, his numbers suffered and his weaknesses were pretty much exposured to the world. Good luck Harden, hope you do good though.

The regular season is finally here!

But man, the Lakers looked terrible against the Dirk-less Mavs. The Princeton offense just ain't the same thing like the triangle, and that makes Nash very ineffective...

I would say it is a bit of both. The biggest issues the Lakers are having now are:

1) Poor transition defense
2) Turnovers
3) Poor bench productions

Then again, don't forget the starters only played in 3 games together (1 pre-season + part of the first 2 regular season games). And I think most of those problems above are correctable. The Lakers are too talented to sink too far, so I guess sooner or later they will get better; except for my point #3. Guys like Steve Blake, Jamison must find ways to score and play decent D off the bench.

Unfortunately that wasn't the case...  They made the final offer to him as $54M but he rejected it right away even though they made it clear that take it or be traded.  He had been saying he would take less but definitely his less meant "max from OKC = 4 yrs/$60M" but not necessary "max from the market = 5 yrs/$80M".  OKC couldn't/wouldn't go for his demand which I 100% agree and support...
Harden definitely is good, but not great for that kind of money imo so I would rather keep Ibaka instead of him too if I were Sam Presti.

Totally agreed with you there. Like I might have it before, we will see how he perform in Houston as the main guy. The last guy in a similar situation was Ben Gordan. And once he signed with the Pistons, and his weaknesses were all exposed.

Another pair of guys signed for the max this summer, but I sincerely DO NOT believe they will bring you more wins, let alone a championship! I am talking about D-Will and JJ (Joe Johnson) of the Nets. Neither of them ever went deep in the playoffs, except for JJ in 2005, but I credit it to Nash dashing him the ball all the time. So yeah, I hope I am wrong on those guys, the Nets won't go far with them as the archors.

I've been hearing alot of chatters about Mike Brown's future in LA. In all fairness, I don't care who is coaching the Lakers, or even if they are running the doomsday offense; as long as the bench keep playing like you and me (among other issues), the Lakers ain't going nowhere.

Personally, as much as I don't like the way Brown is coaching this team, I hate mid-season coaching / system change. If we must do that, please do it NOW when we still have time to adjust. If not, I hope both the coaches and players find ways to work things out, and do it quickly!

I also want to say something about Kobe here. I don't mean to blame him or what not, but this is HIS team. Work with your guys and get the best out of them, instead of scoring like crazy all by yourself! You ain't winning any games by scoring 50pts on your own anyway, why not FORCE FEED both D12 and Gasol the damn ball, and get them produce something, anything!
