^ yes, the Mavs are the early off season biggest loser thus far, there is no doubt about it!

They missed out on ALL the big names so far, and cannot even keep their own FAs like Terry and Kidd! Wow! Their core right now are down to just Dirk, Marion and Carter, what?!

On the other hand, looks like Brandon Roy is attempting a comeback and has just agreed on a 2-year deal with the T-Wolves. I really hope he is healthy enough (knees) to play, though I don't expect him to be able to do too much.

I really like Roy, and hopefully he will be healthy enough to play great. But, with the type of injury is really hard to see his old form again...

From what I've seen and heard, there is almost no way Roy could ever played at that high level he once did; with both of his knees had gone through multiple surgeries. In fact, even though he is only 27, some suggested with the kind of conditions he is in, it is a high risky he might not even be able to walk by age 40 if he keeps playing now. I know it sounds scary, but as far as I understand this is the condition he is in now.

On the other hand, although Lin has agreed to an offer sheet with the Rockets for $28.8M, the Knicks are expected to match it. So it is very likely Lin will remain with the Knicks, and have Kidd backing him up. Kidd has said he doesn't mind coming off the bench at this stage of his career for 20-25 minutes a night.

It will be a great guy to learn from if Lin stay and learn from Kidd...
Just saw that Ray Allen is agreed to go to Miami... Damn, it's gonna be even harder to beat the Heat now...

I guess I am just one of those few people don't get too excited about Ray Allen joining the Heat. True, his 3pt shooting percentages in the past 2 seasons have been his best in career (around 45% each), but I also noticed his overall FG % has also took a dive from 49% in 2011 to 45% in 2012. For a pure shooter a 4% drop is huge, and that was also the biggest drop in % in his career as well.

Then again, I bet he will likely get much less than 25 minutes a game in Miami, so even if his shooting percentage keeps declining with his age, I think the problem shouldn't be as big of a factor should he stayed with Boston. Still, I see him having all the potential to be inconsistant like Rip Hamilton in Chicago, so prove me wrong Ray.

I guess Rashard Lewis has earned enough (too much for what he has done) money now he also signed with the Heat for min vet contract for a ring...
Now Miami is kind of like when LA had Kobe, Shaq, Mailman and Payton for the Lakers...
LA Lakers and Miami Heat are both super scary teams next year...

i didn't see lakers will be a real contender yet for coming season. Nash of course will impove the team. It is still all about kobe. Once he turns himself into "pump fake mode", not even nash can't help much.

I honestly don't think Kobe would be handling the ball or be a ball-hog like he used to. For one thing, he finally has a HOF level PG to play along with for the first time EVER in his career! He doesn't have to handle the ball as much, and he only needs to get himself opened, and just have to worry about catching the ball from Nash. Also, he can spend more of his energy on guarding the other team's top guys, something he tried to sort of shy from to save energy.

We will see how the Bynum / Howard trade scenario plays out before I comment further though. One thing is for sure, the Lakers' starting unit could be as good as Miami comes next season; but I see there are still more holes on the bench in LA than in Miami.

As for the Heat, Pat Riley is doing the same exact thing he did in 2007 by stockpiling one-time star guys who have past their prime. I am not saying this isn't a winning formula, but I just don't see how the Heat actually got better by getting older. One injury or two with them and they could be in trouble.

how about gary payton?
how about last olympic team?
anyway, that's not the point. kobe plays the same way no matter who with his team.
but i hope you are right, i see enough stupid play from kobe in 4th quarter

i understand bench is important, but as long as james, wade and bosh are healthy, that's enough for them to go to final. I hate to admit that heat is the best team right now

Don't get me wrong, C-hing, you have points there.

Yes, GP was definitely a HOF level PG, yet by the time he signed with the Lakers in 2004, he was WAY past his prime. Combining with the triangle offense, he wasn't that effective and in the end was reduced to a mere spot up shooter, if you recall.

With Nash it is quite a different story. For one thing, he has been the top 3 assists leader (if not the #1) in the past 3 years alone, and don't forget last year's Suns were so sorry that, he almost single handedly put them in the playoffs! I have full confident in Kobe that he won't have to force shots in the 4th qtr anymore with Nash is now in LA. Like I said the other day, all he needs to do from now on is just find his spot on the floor, and get ready to get the ball!

no doubt nash will make some nice pass, but kobe willing to do a spot shooter? Let's see in november

The info you heard on the radio was absolutely correct! However, it also depends on how to view the real numbers, and how you like to spin it. By that I mean, true, over the past 20 years or so, NO top 5 assists leader also won a ring in the same season; however, if they expend that to the top 10 assists leader, you will find this happened a few times. Case in point when the Mavs won their 2011 championship, Kidd was the SIXTH leading assist-man.

This also just tells you there are many great players in the league. Despite their great individual numbers, winning a championship is still required a team effort.

As for Nash and Kobe playing together. No, I don't think nor I meant Kobe would ever become a spot up shooter with Nash in LA. Instead, Kobe can now play OFF the ball, move around on the floor at will, and still be able to get the ball for a score. He doesn't have to be the one to initiate offense anymore, and he could finally just worry about finishing.

The Knicks traded for PG Raymond Felton, and according to multiple sources the Knicks will not match the offer sheet for Jeremy Lin and he will become a member of the Houston Rockets. Lin's offer sheet called for him to make almost $15 million in 2014-2015, and if the Knicks matched Lin's offer sheet they would have $75 million tied up in Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, and Lin, and that would leave the Knicks with a severe luxury tax bill.

It's probably because he knew Fields had no chance to come back, but there was a chance Lin to come back because Knicks were really thinking hard about matching it.
He might even made a phone call to the GM to bitch too, and stop them from matching the deal.

After how I bash the Mavs, when they were looking so dead like 2 weeks ago, I think they somehow recovered quite nicely. They got Chris Kaman, Darren Collison, as well as claiming Elton Brand off waiver.
