I understand an athlete's point of view. As they only have 10- 15 years of athlete life span. After that, they might not be able to service any teams. Most important is, many of them will not be able to have an ordinary job like you and I do in daily life. Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson are an exception. They are rich enough to purchase a ball club. Guys who retired are either being a broadcaster or being a coach. Some of them even become an executive of a ball club. Mind you. Many athlete do not know how to handle their wealth and end up miserably. Take a look a Antoine Walker for example. Very rich as an athlete, and end up broke and lots of debts after he retired. I feel pity for them.


FOR A CUSTOMER STAND POINT. As I am currently live in North America. I have been to live NBA games before. to purchase a Hot dog combo is almost USD30-50. Which is almost HKD300 something. Their food taste like shit. Parking could go up to USD100 for game night. That is almost HKD700. Plus your game ticket is almost USD100 andother HKD700-800. So I personally think, it is completely ripped off. Spending almost 2,000HKD for a live game. I would rather sit at home and watch. This is just regular game. NBA all-star game and NBA play-off game is double and triple the price you are paying. So as owner. In order to pay these athletes, that's why they need to increase the price on any merchandise. At the end, we, as NBA fans are the real victim.

Sorry guys, been away for a short while... just now realized c-hing Juwan lives in NA. Where in NA do you live in? I used to live in Arizona while my family was in LA. So I too have been to many live games both in Phoenix as well as in LA.

To summarize what you've said, while I agreed with what you said, the NBA salary system has long been broken. Where else do you see the 'employees' getting 57% of the gross?

Whether players like it or not they must somehow, and I think they eventually will, accept to take LESS along with shorter likely non-guaranteed contracts. Something like a 50/50 or 52/48 sounds more fair to me.

As for owners, I am sure some teams are indeed losing money but do you honestly think they are losing as much as they claim? Except for the NO Hornets which George Shinn indeed couldn't afford to run the team any longer, for the rest I doubt it. If that's the case, you think David Stern would consider the unpopular route in contraction, fold a couple teams and cut the losses?

All in all, sure, going to a game is NOT cheap, but then IMO there ain't much to do in NA. It is a good thing I enjoy hiking, sightseeing and photography, so living in AZ was 'right' for me. Yet I am sure most other c-hings would not agree with me on that. Haha.

And you guys seem to forget about other new enshirees like Chris Mullin and Sabonis among others.

Just browsing the internet today and found this video and thought it was interesting/funny to share with all you c~hings.  A Chinese/Taiwanese baller dunk on LeBron James in a pick-up game and then shot a 3 in his face back to back.  Lol...  I know LeBron looked like he wasn't really into that game, but I just thought it's cool to see a Chinese to do that.

If I am correct, there are two NBA players who grabbed more rebounds than Dennis Rodman does. They are Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain

Juwan5 c~hing.  You are absolutely correct.
Dennis Rodman is actually only the #22 spot in the Career Rebound Leaders in NBA history right now.  Also, KG and Ducan are two players who are still playing in NBA who have more rebounds total than Rodman.
The reason I said he might be the best rebounder in NBA history was because of his size.  He's the only one that I can remember who could out rebound bigger guys with ease... (I actually haven't really watched games that were before the 90's so I might be biased)

Just read something really interesting today on a basketball site.
Kobe and the Lakers donate playoff money to fired team staff.
A lot of teams are laying guys off during the lockout, but the Lakers canned 20 people - video guys, long-time front office people, scouts, trainers and more. Some may be rehired after the lockout but some people around the team thought it was an effort to remove any imprint of Jackson from the franchise.
It rubbed some of the Lakers players the wrong way, especially Kobe Bryant.
So, Kobe Bryant led an effort to give some of the players’ playoff money to two of the video staff guys let go, reports the Los Angeles Times.
"Kobe Bryant insisted on giving some of the team’s playoff bonus to two members of the Lakers’ video department whose contracts were not renewed after the season. Chris Bodaken and Patrick O’Keefe split about $65,000 of the Lakers’ playoff bonus…
Said Bodaken: “At the end of the day, he told us he was going to take care of us and he did, and that’s not how most people in the world operate. He not only talks the talk. He walks it….”
Lakers reserve forward Luke Walton even took an extra step after the season by providing individual financial gifts to members of the training staff.
That kind of money certainly is huge for the video guys and pocket change for Kobe, but the gesture is what matters. For all his “cold hearted assassin” image, Kobe cares about the people around him on the team. Kobe was loyal to the guys around the team in a way the franchise wasn’t.
Way more than the Buss family was. Which should be a little troubling to Lakers fans.

This was a class act by both Kobe and Luke. And as a Lakers fan, mine I say under Dr. Jerry Buss the Lakers have always been one of the more classy teams. I can't say the same for his son Jim Buss though... oh well... by the way, do you mind sharing the source of this article? Thanks.

Amen, c~hing...
Kobe and the Lakers don't have to do that.  They were not the ones who fired the staff, but they feel loyal to them and show them their supports.
I always think Dr. Jerry Buss is a great owner, and Jazz previous owner Larry H. Miller is another one.
