Looks like the Grizzlies handled your Rockets tonight
Meanwhile, the Jazz beat the Blazers in Portland earlier; and now they reclaimed the #8 spot from the Lakers... oh well, LA did it to themselves for losing to the Suns and then the Wiz last week. Two very winnable games they should've won.
It looks like No Harden, no problem for you guys so far. Up 16pts over the Clippers in the 4th qtr, good luck!
Speaking of the Clippers, early in the season everyone said they were going to be the team to beat. Sure, I like CP3 and Griffin, and they seem loaded, but I am just NOT convinced they can beat teams like the Thunder or even the Spurs in a 7-game series. With a more experienced, defensive minded coach, maybe.
^ all in all, I think your Rockets should secure the #7 spot without a problem.
You are 1.5 games behind the Warriors, and it is not impossible to catch them and steal the #6 spot. It is just not easy, as much as you have a soft remaining schedule, except for @ Denver.
Relax... your Rockets have to pretty much lose at least half of your final 9 games to fall OUT of the playoffs. You are pretty much in for sure. It is down to whether you keep the #7 spot and go against the Thunder in the first round, OR, move up to #6 somehow and face the Nuggets.
You are right though, vs the Nuggets might be your best hope.
Let's be honest here. Your Rockets basically have no chance against BOTH the Spurs or Thunder... vs. the Nuggets, however, if you can somehow steal ONE game in Denver, you might just have enough to advance; although like you said it is still not an easy task.
And this will be J-Lin first playoffs experience! Let's see how he does, but I don't expect much from a Playoffs rookie. Especially against teams like the Thunder or Nuggets, where they have a more experienced PG. As for the Spurs, again, with Manu out and Parker not being a 100%; that maybe your best chance in making that series close if you should face the Spurs.
Speaking of the Nuggets, I will be rooting for them tomorrow when they play the Jazz. Currently the Jazz and my Lakers have the same record, but the Jazz holds the tie-breaker; meaning they would go to the playoffs if both teams have the same exact record at season's end. It will be a huge help for LA if the Nuggets win @ Utah tomorrow!
Like I told you, beating the Kings shouldn't be a problem. I think now with your seeding more or less set for #7, don't be surprised McHale uses more lesser used players, and rest either J-Lin and/or Harden here and there.
