Head Coach Develops Master Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup 2nd Leg
Hong Kong will face off against Guangdong on Sunday afternoon in Mongkok Stadium for the second leg of the 37th Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup. The home side is facing an uphill battle after falling behind 0:1 in the first leg. However, Head Coach Kim Pan-gon is entering the game with a positive mind-frame and believes his troops can turn the table in front of the home crowd.
“The second half of the first leg was a very good performance for Hong Kong. We will try to play like that in the second leg and hopefully capitalize on our chances,” said Kim. “We will be coming out with an attacking mind-frame and it will be very important for us to score the first goal.”
Kim also talks about paying special attention to Guangdong’s danger man Lu Lin. “Lu (Lin) is a very dangerous player in the Guangdong side and he gave us a lot of pressure in the first half of the away leg,” Kim pointed out. “Before the start of the second half, I asked Philip (Chan Siu-kwan) to pay special attention to him and tried to reduce his effectiveness. I might look into man-marking Lu in the second leg but I believe our centre-backs and Philp have what it takes to get the job done.”
