It sounds like Ricky Rubio isn't a sure thing to come over to the Timberwolves next season.  After his team won the Spanish league title Rubio said "We are talking with Barcelona and we will soon see."  This leaves many to think he could stay with his Spanish team.  Rubio's buyout is currently $1.4 million, and the Timberwolves are only allowed to pay $500,000 of that.  With the labor uncertainty Rubio could decide to spend at least another year in Spain.

若果論及利益上的問題，LBJ 的決定未必正確！

純粹個人觀感；小弟今年到過不少地方，同樣發現 NIKE 籃球的 focus 主要是放在 KB24 上 ...
相對早兩年四處都係他的大型畫像，他的廣告形象好像遜色了不少！
(我仍然認為他轉會的決定，運動牌子是不大認同的！)

一個職業運動員的收益，最大部份始終係來自商業贊助！

I don't get it. Mavs is a fresh champ. From media to rumours, the odd chance in year 2011-2012 for Dallas Mavericks to win is only 40%. Behind teams such as Boston, and Miami. Didn't Dallas just finished Lebron James and his co.???

Relax, that assessment is not entirely baseless, and see if you agree with my view here.

To win a championship it takes skills, talents, team works and a bit of luck! I don't think I will need to explain the formers... rather luck is the tricky part here. By luck, it could mean the right bracket, catching a break in injuries, or catching a supposed good team at their worst prepared time.

I bet you, next season the Mavs could draw a tougher bracket, and the likes of the Lakers, Thunder, Blazers, or up and comers like the Grizzlies, the Nuggets will be ready for the defending champs. Next season the Mavs could get bite by the injury bug. Remember, this year they were relatively lucky in this department, with Butler be the only guy with a more serious injury. Don't forget, when you are the defending champs, everyone wants to beat you and will play their best ball against you. Which means, you virtually can't take a night off at all! It is not easy to win a title, and it is even tougher to defend it.

On top of that, we have no idea what kind of salary structure will be like in the next CBA, and their defensive anchor in Chandler is a free agent... they might not even be able to afford to keep him. So, there are really quite a ton of uncertainties about the Mavs for next year in winning it all again. This year everyone sort of overlooked these guys, and I can gaurantee you it won't happen again next year!

There is a yes and no to your reply.

Majority of the stuff I agree with you.  The Collect Bargain Agreement plays a vital role to the Mavs executives.
No doubt that they might not be able to sign back Tyson Chandler. The odd chance for him to go elsewhere is very slim.

I wish I could explain more but I am too tired to explain everything like I used to.

To sum it up, I do agree with you. Afterall the stuff I am reading has a lot of rumours involve with it.
Let's see NBA drafted players and see whether there is any crazy blockbuster trade. Who knows?
Maybe next thing you know Sacramento Kings are the new NBA champs!

Oh no, not again... please don't bring up how the NBA refs handed game 6 to the Lakers, as well as game 7.

I am NOT saying it because I am a Lakers fans, rather I am stating facts. If you remember those 2 games, the Kings progressively got tentative and wouldn't even drive to the hoops. If you keep shooting jumpers, you are only going to get so much foul calls for you. Also, check out game 7's stats, the Kings received their share of FT attempts, but they also missed a ton of them! C-Webb and Floppy Diva barely showed up in that game. If not for a young Mike Bibby, that game 7 would've been an uglier game.

One hot rumor I heard has the T-Wolves sending both Kevin Love and the #2 overall pick (likely to be Arizona's Derrick Williams) to the Lakers for Gasol. Sure, the salary won't work on paper, but the T-Wolves could get as much as $6M under the salary cap if they do not pick up certain players' option; then that trade is legal under the current CBA. Then again, Kahn would have to be an idiot to do this trade, so I think it is more like a pipe dream for Lakers fans than anything.

Truth to the matter is, now that none of Jackson's former assistant coaches are staying with the Lakers, the triangle is gone for good. The Lakers do need a pure PG as well as to get younger! Bynum + Odom for D12?

@ 阿島 c-hing, Tex Winter suffered a stroke in April 2009, and has been "recovering" ever since. And since he only took on a consultant role on Jackson's second tour of duty with the Lakers, that is why you never see him behind the Lakers' bench since end of the 2009 regular season. I've read that he is doing ok, and don't expect him to be doing any more coaching for sure.

just a suggestion to all... not trying to force anyone to do so, but could we keep all NBA related topics within this thread? Seriously, I don't care about my personal scores or whatever, but I'd much rather keep everything under one roof, that's just me. Or at least that's how things are done on other forums I visit. You are correct, Artest has filed a petition to have his name changed to Metta World Peace... I really have no words for that, I think he has toned down his crazy stuff ever since he joined the Lakers. I just am not sure if it was Phil Jackson's influence, Kobe's or he just got mature? How he perform this next season (whenever that might be) will tell us just how well Mike Brown is as a people manager, if you will.

Jeez... and speaking of next season, let's just hope the lockout won't eat up games like it did in 1998.

The full name of the triangle offense is triple-post offense, since the concept of tactics in University of Southern California (USC) legendary coach Sam Barry, then Tex Winter introduced the triangle offense into NBA.
Tex Winter is the father of the triangle offense, Phil Jackson is a good integrated coach, Tex Winter is proficient in tactical arrangment.
Tex Winter because of health reasons in 2009, resigned the post of assistant coach, he was named consultant, but despite two consecutive years, the Lakers won the championship, but actually look inside the game is not difficult to find, from the half season to show after the playoff, the Lakers' triangle offense in the use of time is no longer so delicate, must be more to do to become dependent on the main players shot scores.
Even dependent on Kobe and other main singles one to one, and share the ball above the triangle offense and the players pay attention to the flow of basic concepts is not the same.
The Triangle offense's most important feature is the sideline triangle created between the center, who stands at the low post; the forward at the wing, and the guard at the corner. The team's other guard stands at the top of the key and the weak-side forward is on the weak-side high post — together forming the "two-man game."
The goal of the offense is to fill those five spots, which creates good spacing between players and allows each one to pass to four teammates. Every pass and cut has a purpose and everything is dictated by the defense.

This is why the Timberwolves are considered such a terribly run team. They still haven't fired coach Kurt Rambis, apparently talked to Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski about their coaching job. Coach K, who could have virtually any NBA job and turned down the Lakers when Kobe was entering his prime, of course wasn't interested. It sounds like the T-Wolves will end up hiring Bernie Bickerstaff, who has a career record of 414-512 as their next coach. The plan is for Bickerstaff to coach the team for a year or two and then have his son J.B., a current T-Wolves assistant, succeed him as coach.

I also read it's possible the T-Wolves won't fire Kurt Rambis this offseason because if they fire him now he is due a $4 million buyout for the 2 years left on his contract but if there is no season due to the lockout they would only owe him $2 million.
