1984年6月8日，早期曾任 Marvin Gaye、Stevie Wonder 伴奏吉他手，後來轉職歌手的 Ray Parker Jr.，選在與電影『捉鬼敢死隊 Ghostbusters』上映同天，發行其所創作、演唱及製作的同名主題曲 "Ghostbusters"。挾著電影熱賣的威力，兩個月後登上全美 Billboard 排行榜冠軍寶座，並且蟬聯三週，英國則是連續三週亞軍，隔年更獲得第57屆奧斯卡獎「最佳原創歌曲」提名。不過這首歌推出沒多久，就惹來 Huey Lewis 控告，認為它抄襲了 Huey Lewis & The News 1983年的歌曲 "I Want A New Drug"，兩人後來於庭外祕密協議和解。
