4月11日，法國總統大選初選結果出爐。在全部12名初選候選人中，現任總統馬克龍（Emmanuel Macron）獲得978萬選票，以27.8%的得票率取得頭名，緊隨其後的是傳統極右翼候選人馬林勒龐（Marine Le Pen），她獲得了813萬選票，以23.1%的支持率緊隨其後。這兩人由此進入4月19日的第二輪決選。

Marine Le Pen hss faced criticism for allegedly being too close to Russia amid the war in Ukraine.She has been criticised by rivals over her past support for Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin.
