A true story of life in the former Soviet Union following the tragedy of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Nearly 200 kilometers downwind from the maimed nuclear plant, the tiny village of Budische was evacuated but for several dozen elderly residents and one teenager, Alexei (who narrates the scenes), who wished to stay with his family. Central to Budische’s survival is its fabled spring, the waters of which are miraculously free of radiation.

節奏慢，旁白少，而且也沒有強調主題，主要以男主角 Alexei 和沒受輻射污染的泉水為主線，拍攝切爾諾貝爾重災區村中居民的一年生活。那條村真的很美，草青青，木森森，那兒真的有受到輻射污染嗎？要是有，我得佩服大自然的力量和生命的頑強。此片配樂由坂本龍一負責。
