Secrets of the Beehive is the third solo album by David Sylvian and was released on 7 November 1987.
Sylvian’s third solo outing is as close as we’re probably ever going to get to a full Sylvian/Sakamoto album. Similarly to ‘Brilliant Trees’ and ‘Gone To Earth’, he assembled a host of musical luminaries to display their various skills here, but Sakamoto is heavily involved on every song, whether it’s the string arrangement, playing organ or synths, woodwind and brass arrangements or his trademark piano and treated piano. Sakamoto’s prodigious creative talent can clearly be heard all over this record and the end result is beautiful.
The following tracks are my selections from Secrets of the Beehive.
