The nine jurors have found former Chief Executive Donald Tsang guilty of one charge of misconduct in public office and dismissed another while they failed to reach a majority verdict on the corruption charge.
The jury could not reach a decision on whether Tsang was guilty of accepting as an advantage the refurbishment of a three-storey penthouse in Shenzhen that he had rented. It belonged to a firm partly owned by businessman Bill Wong.
But they found Tsang guilty of misconduct by not declaring discussions about renting the penthouse when DBC in which Wong had a share applied to the government for a digital radio broadcasting licence.
The jury dismissed the third charge – that Tsang did not declare that interior designer Barrie Ho was working on the penthouse, when he recommended him to receive a government medal of honour. http://news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/component/k2/1314215-20170217.htm
It is a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing.
