Pandey China, was born in Shanghai on 29 December 1931. Her family moved to Hong Kong in 1949, and in 1953, she took her stage name, Pandey Huawei, for the first time in the film "Angels in White". Later she became Pan Wan Ching, and became sought after for her bilingual singing skills ... English, Chinese, Japanese, French songs, Middle Eastern, and Italian.
She sang all over the world, meeting a wide range of fellow artists and celebrities, including Queen Elizabeth of England. She was now known as Pandey China, and the 1960s were a busy and productive period for her in all media outlets. The 1970s saw her "Rebecca Live In The Eagle's Nest" becoming Hong Kong's first live recording album. She continued working successfully through the 1980s. Her virtue film won the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress, and she later appeared in the TV series "wealthy". She also starred in several episodes of "Flowers of Shanghai". Interest in her work continued into the 1990s and beyond, with all her songs being compiled in one form or another. She truly was the "Hong Kong Shanghai Legend."
