Diesel engine vs. petrol engine

any brother knows the difference between the two?
will diesel engine be very noisy inside the car?
cos I'm considering the new diesel ML250

I have both type of engine.
Inside the car, the diesel is not too noisy. But at idle, there is some low frequency vibration.
Outside the car, it sounds like a tractor/truck/bus.
Diesel SUV is a good combination for fuel economy.
Diesel engine has high torque which is ideal for heavy car.
Diesel has better fuel economy than petrol, especially on long distance, constant speed ride.
Also there is a very small delay on taking off at traffic light due to the turbo lag.

I can do >1000km on a tank of diesel (62litres) on long distance ride, or about 6 litres/100km.

which country are you in?

diesel for more low-rev torque
petrol for more refinement

Diesel cars get a much better air-con because of its high torque.I had 2 diesel cars before, the Mercedes 220D and the 300D. They are very durable cars but slower,best driven by cheufeur.

Nowadays diesel cars are not slow
pity that they do not import the ML350 diesel

the sales said all 350 engine will be replaced
so either 250 diesel or 400 petrol later..

more diesel model is good
but i think the S and ML need the bigger 3.5 V6 diesel engine

I have driven the ML250 (diesel) in Sydney during a test drive.

Big car, but more than enough power for both city, and freeway (driving 110km/hr totally effortless).

And enough insulation inside so that you don't here the engine.

They do have the 3.5V6 diesel for sale too, but might not be necessary.

One thing I am not used to is the automatic turning off engine in the traffic light stop.

u can disable the eco mode
if u have that enabled it will switch off engine
