Alain Hudelot Noellat. It is not just because of its good quality or high quality-price-ratio. The most important is that I have never had a bottle from this producer that disappoints me. I don't have to worry about stepping on mines, which is a lot in Burgundy even for the big name producers.
Les Suchots is a top rated 1er vineyard in VR, surrounded by Grand Cru vineyards in the north (Echezeaux) and south (Richebourg and Romanee St. Vivant) and some consider its quality are as good as some of the lesser Grand Cru vineyards. Once again, this bottle lives up to my expectation. Despite 2003 is a hot vintage, tannin is still smooth, and the use of new oak is very restrained. It is still showing very well the floral, herbal and sweet spice flavor which is well balance with the fruit, and maintain its elegant style. The wine continue to improve even two hours after we pour into the glass.
BTW, many people call this Domaine Hudelot Noellat but I never found the word "Domaine" on their label.
