Designed in three wheel style, the Peel P50 was a microcar that was actually made from the year of 1962 to 1965 under the direction of Peel Engineering Company. The assembly of the Peel P50 was done I the Isle of Man. It was till the year of 2009 that this car was recorded and accepted as the smallest automobile vehicle to work on road.
Tuned with new mechanisms and technologies, this car is provided with no gear in reverse but adjusted to a rear handle that enables you to plan its movement physically due to its light and flexible weight. The car is framed and structured in the manner of a city car which campaigned in favor of one seater. The car has only one door that is in the left side and is also provided with windscreen wiper, headlight and more.
Small in size and charmingly appealing to people, the car Peel P50 was available in various colors such as Daytona White, Dark Blue, Dragon Red and more. Priced at £199 in the year of 1963 which was equal to the price valuation of USD $2,200, there are only 27 Peep P50 in existence.
It was in the year of 2010 that the Peel Engineering Ltd. which is based at England started a replica production of this car. Even though the outer appearance of the new model was quite similar to Peep P50, there were many mechanical diversities and differences in the steering system, drivetrain features and the suspension ratio.
The P50 used a 49 cc (3.0 cu in) DKW engine which gave it a top speed of approximately 60 km/h (37 mph), and was equipped with a three-speed manual transmission that had no reverse gear. Consequently, turning in a confined area could be achieved only by pushing, or lifting the car using the handle on the rear and physically pulling it round. The makers and users claim fuel consumption of 100 mpg-imp (2.8 L/100 km; 83 mpg-US).
