When I was in high school, I was lucky to work experience in a computer data centre for 2 weeks. Tape drives was common and the tapes were either 9 tracks or 11 tracks. Mostly used to run batch jobs for banks. Punch cards were common (!) and business software was written in COBOL. Hard drives were as big as a washing machine and I don't even know the capacity.
During that time, IBM PC has not emerge yet and you have Tandy TRS-80, and Apple II just starting. |
