iPhone 5's screen is too small and I am getting old! Very hard to read screen without glasses nowadays. In any case, I think the device design philosophy is different since the launch of iPhone. During launch years ago, the design philosophy is to change the fix dials on a phone, making it flexible and change with the function user uses.
Nowadays, a phone is not a phone anymore, it's a mobile device. Hence, to limit the design to one-hand access does not hold anymore. Dell was a little ahead of it's time while the market and technology (or innovation) is bring the phone to the mobile device era. Samsung kind of proven a big screen makes sense.
The fact is we use the phone to read news, watch videos, listen to music, and texting more so that dialing and calling.
