However powerful those cop cars are, it still require the guy who drives it fit enough. I saw a fat cop try to get a Porsche speeding. By the time he got back to his car and try to chase, the Porsche had already exited the highway. The guy had a charger, but so what?
Police cars in general are actually much slower than civilian vehicles due to the extra weight they have to carry, but extra heavy-duty parts such as cooling, suspensions, alternator, etc. are required to minimize down time on the road. In most municipalities in North America, police cars are replaced once every two to three years and they are uaually sold off to taxi cab companies .
