雪地揸車特別多意外..大家有冇類似經歷??

I actually hired a rental car in Hokkaido in the depth of winter a few years back, and did a driving tour around Hokkaido.  Now i have had no prior snow driving experience... but i tried anyway.  All the rental cars on the island had 4wd (even small cars).  It was quite ok driving around but i had one scary experience... i was actually following a row of cars going through a corner and i hit a patch of black ice - and i skidded to the opposite side of the road!!  I was the only car in that row of cars that skidded!  Pretty scary...
I will be more careful when the car goes through under bridges etc from now on...

Most of the accidents in the video are more due to drivers' carelessness and less to the weather.  Of course speed also played a big role in the cause of accident.

In cold sub-zero weather driving, WINTER TIRES should be used not necessarily snow tires because in most metropolitan areas, snow slushes usually get cleared away very quickly but cold temperature do require the use of WINTER TIRES because summer and all-seasoned tire compound will harden and lose their grip when temperature drops below 3 degree Celcius.  Winter tire compound is much softer and can significantly shorten stopping distance hence reduce the chances of accident.

Four wheel drive vs rear wheel drive vs front wheel dirve -
Four wheel drive doesn't solve all winter driving problems, it does help out at start but it also give drivers a false sense of security and cause them to over drive their ability.
Once the car is moving, front wheel drive car will perform the best because it has lesser tendency of spinning out than four wheel and rear wheel drive cars because there is much less rear-push spin out.  Of course front wheel drive car can also spin out when it hit a big patch of snow slushes at high speed.

In conclusion, drive with common sense in all inclement weather.

我成日見到係雪地D四驅車出事多過普通車，佢地恃著自己係四驅就開得快D，咁就出事。我嘅經驗係落雪反而好D，因為D雪軟而啜著架車。但停雪後因為D雪比D車壓成冰，呢個時候先危險。危險係因為雪變成冰。

喺雪地駕駛第一件事喺學識飄移，通常有雪嘅國家啲停車場都會大啲，揾個大停車場 跣下架車，練習下雪地跣胎環境，明白乜野叫跣，同應該點樣控制架車，將車行回你想要嘅方向。業餘學嘅喺點樣控制架車返回直線。瑞典考車牌，其中必須通過跣胎考試。溫哥華同其他北方地方不一樣喺佢冷天下雪不多，溫度好多時徘徊喺0度，0度以上溫哥華喺落雨，0度以下變冰，跣起上嚟仲金。其他省份如多倫多10～11月個個都換哂雪胎（唔喺有鐵釘過種，厚雪如愛民頓先要落釘胎或落鍊，喺日本上富士山就要換鐵鍊，路牌會寫明要你換先準上山。）

回想2010年頭, 係大阪攞部車去仙台, 大阪無雪呔, 比左條鐵錬, 重要果部係FR markX .. 有啲地方有雪有啲無, 最後半夜一點係新潟一出隧道就洗左埋路邊 (隧道無雪開緊120) ; 然後等救援, 最後本來預計十個鐘可以去到點知渣左17個鐘...

Speaking for winter driving. It definitely need a good set of snow tire for stoping. If you have AWD or 4WD with high ground clearance, it will minimize the chance of getting stuck.
At the end, prepare lots of distance between car to car and drive with patience.

未試過,不過可以想像有一定難度,除適應操控感,更會面對大雪及其他天氣情況!
有危險所以會面對剌激!!

咁多回應以 longdongsliver師兄講得最詳細兼合理。問題出自輪胎（車軚）物料，雪冰雨等其實係其次。因為低溫會改變輪胎物料的軟硬度。

大概嘅比喻係：
硬掘掘嘅新番皂喺浴缸度冼住執唔到（停唔到） vs 一舊畀熱水浸過溶溶哋搽完身嘅番皂，跌咗落地有少少黏住地下咁

利申：小弟 1992-1999住在芝加哥地區，最後幾年每天要來回 100km返學。歷盡冬天開車的驚險
（今日20130219 Yahoo 氣溫報當地 -7C 至-14C，呢種天氣揸車一 D都唔好玩，因為唔快得）
