Thank you for sharing. I wanted to do that to my Macbook too! Been 4 yrs but hard to find something of the same value/function in PC but too poor to get another Mac. I have been using ext mon so I get multi-display and did that for years so work fine for me. Just like to know where did you buy the kits?

very smart to make use of the CD drive space.
mine is 13" MBP, which I hardly use the CD ROM.

If you use ext mon, then you can consider to have a desktop PC, which wil cheaper.

This idea also works for 13" MBP

The additional HD can be a SSD or installed as RAID-0 harddisk system.....

apple嘅新產品一定會搞到用家唔可以自己upgrade, 買新macbook時都要考慮埋呢個因素

Thanks for the info. I use an external mon along with the MB mon so I can have multi screen and window open at the same time. The external mom act as extension to the MB. This configuration is more useful then most desk top PC as desktop for same config require multi display video card which is not cheap. Moreover, for my application which is not video heavy, unless I go for the i7 qua core, CPU wise do not make that much of a different to justify the cost. Better off doing what you did la!
