The Los Angeles Lakers have fired Mike Brown after a 1-4 start.

Brown replaced Phil Jackson as head coach of the Lakers after the 10-11 NBA season.

Brown's agent, Warren LeGarie, confirmed the firing on Friday morning.

ESPN's Marc Stein had reported earlier on Friday that the Lakers would consider making a change at head coach if the team didn't make an immediate turnaround during their six-game homestand.

"Mike just called saying he was relieved of his duties," LeGarie told Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Mitch Kupchak had pushed to give Brown more time as head coach before the decision was made.

Sources tell Ken Berger of CBS that Chuck Person has an edge over Steve Clifford to become interim head coach.

Thank you Lakers management for taking such a swift action today, though I hate to see Brown got fired.

Like what I said yesterday on the 141 NBA Thread (check it out, by the way), the Lakers ain't going anywhere as it, either we make a change NOW or we figure something out from within and quickly. Again, hate to see anyone got fired, but it surely better than dragging this thing out; and damaging our chances for righting this ship any further.

其實最初決定請Mike Brown已經係錯誤，佢一世都只係出色嘅助教失敗嘅主教練
我覺得湖人請邊個教練都好，想短期內止跌回升想起碼要1)釋放Nash嘅火力、2)放棄MWP，其他都仲有時間執

The Lakers don't necessarily have to get rid of MWP now. He is no longer the offensive player he once was, but he can still play decent defense, or at least he looks better than several other bench guys already.

Also, the Lakers still have their amnesty clause to use until the 2015-16 season. No need to use it now.

我諗我係用放棄一詞加上太簡略令人誤會......
我明白MWP係LAL禁區球員以外唯一可靠嘅防守球員(而且得佢同Ebanks係正式SF)，但佢已經唔係Artest，唔好話火力防守能力都已經下降，進攻時同四打五分別唔大
其實論板凳火力Meeks同Jamison一定唔會差過依家嘅MWP，Meeks都仲話前面有個Kobe，Jamison就根本俾Mike Brown浪費，佢可以支援三四號位
如果將MWP 34.8mpg分一啲(例如大約6分鐘)俾Meeks，而SF由Ebanks或者Jamison甚至Kobe(小球時間，當然佢從來都守唔到SF)頂，響Nash有更多持球時間為前題下LAL嘅火力一定可以更猛，MWP亦有更多體力防守
另外提起特赦條款，贏到總冠軍當然冇需要用，如果呢兩年都失敗嘅話都冇邊個可以用，因為大部份約都完哂......
