I install Ubuntu to an old PC (AMD single core!) and it is running fine, only has 2G RAM. Use that to surf net with no problems. The interface such as the control panel is very like MacOS.
Ideal to give the PC for simple internet access with no major worry for virus.
Looks like I should try Xubuntu as well.
Currently, typing this on a Hackintosh which is also free OS.
