澳洲央行今日決定，降息25個基點至3.5%，自6月6日起生效。結果公布後澳元跳升，澳元兌美元現報0.9759，升0.0055。

澳洲央行表示，降息乃因國內前景溫和國際環境變差；該行預計，歐洲經濟進一步走軟，而中國經濟增長也將繼續放緩。

澳央行並稱，金融市場信心已惡化，有進一步放鬆政策的空間。

此前，市場廣泛預計澳央行會降息25個基點，因目前澳洲利率太高，而國內經濟需要進一步刺激。

由於澳洲經濟增長面困難，早在5月1日的會議上，澳洲央行就出乎意料減息50個基點至3.75%，較市場預期的25個基點為多，亦為2009年以來最大減幅。

除了澳央行，本周還將有加拿大、英国及欧洲央行陸續公布最新利率决定。鑒於歐債危機不斷加深，市場特別關注明晚歐央行的議息會議。

Is it because USD is relatively weaker last few days?

Consumers are not spending in Australia. The Reserve Bank wants to stimulate the economy to give consumer confidence to commit into loans etc.

The Reserve Bank has indicated that they are likely to reduce the interest rate by another 75 basis points over the next 3-4 months. Usually they meet once a month on a Tuesday and make the announcement by 2:30pm local time.  So, yes, more rate reduction between now and end of year. The usual practice is to reduce by 25 basis points except last time it shocked the market by reducing it 50 basis points.

澳元其實相比起美元同歐元，有事起上黎一定最穩陣架喇！但短時間減2次息，有D唔尋常

Reserve Bank just met on Tuesday 3/7/12. As expected, no rate reduction this time. It appears that AUD/USD is once again above parity, currently 1AUD = 1.027 USD.
