Released 47 years ago today on 22 September 1978 ... the global unintended hit single 'Das Model' (The Model) from the 7th studio album 'Die Mensch-Maschine' ('The Man-Machine') by West German electro pioneers Kraftwerk. The Model was released in both German- and English-language versions. It reached no. 1 in the UK singles chart. Both the German and English versions of the song have been covered by other artists, including Snakefinger, Hikashu, Big Black and Robert.
