Fifty years ago today, British soldiers shot 26 unarmed civilians during a protest march in Derry, Northern Ireland, ultimately leaving 14 dead in what’s become known as Bloody Sunday.
To mark the anniversary of the massacre, U2 today shared on social media a new, acoustic performance by Bono and The Edge — with tweaked lyrics at the end — of “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” the band’s 1983 song that opened the War album and became an early signature. Check it out above.
