Frankie goes to Hollywood ----- The Power of Love



1984年12月推出的The Power of Love，是英國樂隊Frankie Goes to Hollywood的連續第三首英國流行榜冠軍歌。FGTH頭兩首冠軍歌是Relax和Two Tribes，同樣來自他們的首張大碟Welcome to the Pleasuredome。

The Power of Love聽起來並不像一首聖誕歌，Holly Johnson用他充滿力量和狂野的聲音來演譯，加上他們頭兩隻single所觸及的題材(性與政治)，很難想像他們的第三隻single是與聖誕有關。但當留意一下歌詞內容，你便會發覺很有宗教味道、很spiritual、和每一句都充滿愛。所以我認為在這個普天同慶充滿愛的聖誕節中很適合去欣賞這首不一樣的聖誕歌。而這首歌的MV也很配合聖誕氣氛，是關於耶穌誕生的故事。

28年後（2012）的十二月，英國女唱作人Gabrielle Aplin翻唱了The Power of Love，並同樣地登上英國流行榜冠軍位置。我非常喜歡FGTH很powerful的原版，而這個翻唱版我也覺得不錯。沒有了Holly Johnson的硬朗，取而代之的是一份溫柔，用一種完全不同的方式去演譯愛的力量。
