Seasons In The Sun - Terry Jacks

「Seasons in the Sun」絕對不是一首愉快的曲子，甚至還十分的傷感。
它是一位比利時歌手賈克布瑞爾（Jacques Brel）的作品，
原名叫做「Le Moribond」（垂死的人）
歌曲的內容大致描述一個罹患癌症、不久於人世的男子，
在面臨死亡的時候，對父親、妻子以及摯友的依依難捨。
布瑞爾譜寫這首歌曲，可說是有感而發，因為他當時發覺自己罹患了癌症。
在跟病魔搏鬥多年之後，他於1978年十月九日病逝，得年四十九歲。
跟布瑞爾私交相當不錯的美國詩人歌手洛德麥裘恩（Rod McKuen），
曾經把很多首布瑞爾的作品填上英語歌詞，
他很早就把「Le Moribond」翻譯成英文的「Seasons in the Sun」，
並且在1964年由民歌界元老的京斯頓三重唱（Kingston Trio）
率先灌錄成唱片，不過當時並沒有造成太大的轟動。

70年代初期，
跟麥裘恩交情不錯的的加拿大歌手Terry Jacks由於吉他彈得很好，
應邀Beach Boys合唱團伴奏灌錄「Seasons in the Sun」這首歌。
不過，錄完之後，可能是由於效果不如理想，決定不發行，
而極為喜愛這首歌的Terry Jacks則為了追悼一位意外過世的好友，
決定自己來灌唱，成為經典暢銷歌曲。

1999 年當紅的愛爾蘭偶像團體 Westlife 「西城男孩」重新翻唱，
讓這首經典老歌又再度風靡西洋樂壇。

Growing up in New York, this was one of my favorite songs during my high school years in the 70's, and it is still my favorite song. I faintly knew about the history of this song, but you are able to provide the much detailed information. Thank You so much for posted it, it brings back so much happy youth memories.
