The Democratic Party has accused the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of deviating from standard procedures while investigating vote-rigging allegations against the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB).
The allegations relate to the District Council elections in November last year.
Lam Cheuk-ting, chief executive of the Democratic Party and a former ICAC investigator, said a source had told him that the commander in charge of the investigation had not applied for a search warrant before visiting the target's premises.
He said the management had also refused to apply for a warrant even after ICAC staff found what they suspect to be forged documents. He said any evidence found in the premises should have been seized at once “otherwise the target may destroy all the evidence or conceal it".
Lam will be taking part in the upcoming Legislative Council election in the New Territories East constituency. Eunice Yung from the New People's Party, Edward Leung from Hong Kong Indigenous and independent Christine Fong have also submitted their nomination forms for the election.
