商務及經濟發展局局長蘇錦樑指，7月來港的旅客較去年同期下跌百分之8.4，主要是受外圍經濟不明朗及人民幣近期貶值影響，加上香港過往發生的激烈示威，影響內地旅客來港意欲。

It's a good question,

We need the right system and the right people to steer Hong Kong towards the right direction.  Without the right people, we cannot get the system right, but without the right system we cannot get the right people.  We are therefore back to the old question of egg or chicken first.  One thing seems quite clear though, is that without a fundamental change, whether it is dictated by the Central government or initiated by someone else, Hong Kong is heading for nowhere.

I do not believe there is true democracy in any country. It can exist only in an ideal world where all people are perfect.  So long as people are not perfect, there can never be true equality and true democracy. The best that can be achieved is an optimum balance of key issues, like the welfare of the poor against the rich, the degree of freedom against public interest, short-term pain against long-term prosperity, etc.  Bearing in mind that Hong Kong is not a country, this cannot be achieved without a capable and benevolent leader with the support of the central government.  How this leader is selected or elected is not essential.
