Internal Audit is not as competitive, but it's harder to switch jobs. Actually, the salary for internal audit is quite good considering that the workload and stress is not nearly as high as assurance. I think when you choose between the two it really depends on your long term goal. Internal Audit is more stable, but more boring. Usually when people say auditor they are referring to those who are doing external audit. So I think maybe you should figure the difference between the two first.
