MY BONNIE LIES OVER THE OCEAN 一首傳統蘇格蘭民謠, 源出不詳, 最遠可稽查的是從1964年出版的
"American Song Treasury: 100 Favorites" 所記載: "Bring Back My Bonnie To Me 的單張樂譜於1870年已經
在一些音樂書籍商店出售, 出版人是美國作曲家兼樂隊領班 Charles E. Pratt (1841-1902), 這是唯一有記錄的版本,
但他並沒有將作者名字印在樂譜上"。
"MY BONNIE LIES OVER THE OCEAN" 這民謠自此流傳, 很多學校亦以此歌曲作音樂教材或團體合唱歌曲之一。
至今天此曲除作兒歌外更被廣泛應用在不同場合或卡通電影配音等; 甚至是年青人或童軍 Boy Scout 營火活動的歌曲。

這歌曲是收錄在英國 Singer-songwriter 搖滾歌手 Tony Sheridan 1961年他個人的四張 Single 細碟之一,
他改編了 "My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean" 這傳統民謠, 以搖滾節奏演譯,
並邀請了他的友好樂隊 The Beat Brothers 参予合作錄音,

一度為紀念 Buddy Holly 與 The Crickets 而取名字 "The Beatals",
再改至 "Silver Beatles", 最後以 "THE BEATLES" 面世。
TONY SHERIDAN & THE BEATLES
1960年他們第一次遠赴德國漢堡, 初遇 Rock n'Roll 歌手 Tony Sheridan, 與他一見如故成好友。
1961年第二次再訪, 即被應邀参予他的台上演出, 及後得 Tony Sheridan 的唱片監製 Bert Kaempfert 賞識,
給予他們在 Tony Sheridan 的唱片錄音, 第一張細碟就是 "My Bonnie" 與 "The Saint",
當時他們已經用The Beatles 的隊名, 但因為英語 Beatles 的發音與德語一粗語字發音相似,
既然他們祇是唱片的 Music Backing 而己, 就改以 "The Beat Brothers" 的隊名與 Tony Sheridan 合作,
全共有8首歌曲的唱片錄音。

及後 The Beatles 開始盛名於樂壇, 以前 The Beat Brothers 的1961年錄音,
全數重新收錄在 The Beatles 的專輯唱片中, 1964年首次在德國面世, 這雖然不是他們的首張專輯,
但命名 "THE BEATLES' FIRST" 亦理所當然, 因為這是繼 The Quarrymen 之後,
他們首次以 The Beatles 所參予的歌曲錄音, 直至 1967年此專輯才在英國印製發行。
