Test drove the Tesla S a couple of weeks ago, it is really a fabulous car.
It made the acceleration like switching on the headlight, you got all your torque from 0 rpm.
Then the battery sits so low that it handles like serious sports car.
The general problems which bother electric cars are not a problem at all in HK.
1, Range -- in HK, I doubt many ppl can clock 100 km per day, so the 500 km range is perfectly fine for HK, which means you can charge is every other day with normal charger.
2, Temperature -- when it's getting cold (<0) the battery is losing efficiency quickly. not a problem for HK.
3, Price -- now the government is waiving the First Registration Tax, made this car a bargain (1 mio) to relative competiters.
4, Charging station -- most home carparks in HK can be easily wired for a charger.
Definitely my next car. If there's a break-through of battery technology (energy density & charging speed), within ten years petro cars are history.
