First of all thank you for posting this article.
Very nice car, i like the design of V40 T5, i can be say is a S40 hatchback, or replacement for C30, power is enough for a 2L ,213hp, i think no problem upgrading to 250 bhp. the torque is very good 30.6, quite a good power and torque, 2600rpm max torque, shouldn't have any problem accelerating a 1.5 ton car ! DSG gear box is a plus on acceleration. The design is very similar to C30 which won the Macau GP some years back, just that C30 is shorter in length and 2 door design, V40 T5 is more like a Golf with 4 doors and luxury items like the sun roof, very nice dial, leather seats, etc.
The cons of all hatch sports is weight, all Golf Gti , Megane RS , Ford Focus ST , etc have very heavy weight , in the region of 1.4 to 1.5 tons. It also will hurt during cornering as the weight is push around, the good thing to counter that is the sport mode with will distribute the torque. FF is a problem, lets see if they will come back with T6, usually the model with 4WD, with upgraded engine to around 260 - 270 hp, we will see a very good Rally Volvo !
Overall, i like it very much as a modern hatch , looks good, specs is good, just hope it will come in 4WD and lighter in weight. Something like 1330kg region , with 260 bhp, 4wd , etc. the R design model ! |
