Why? The design is in fact the best look among all Mini.
But it was design for left hand drive. Not right hand drive.

I think the car maker designs for the British. So, they should also has it made for Hong Kong,too.

Perhaps the Auto maker still having this issue. "one problem is yet to be resolved. Access to the rear seats is via a single rear ‘suicide door' on the right-hand side. This means that in markets such as the UK, Japan and Australia which drive on the left-hand side of the road, this door opens backwards into traffic rather than onto the pavement."
The maker is accommodating more for those countries. That is why the steering wheel is on the left side. And you know that , we have to drive on the left side of the road in HK. I guess it doesn't matter where the steering wheel is at, driver has to stay focus on the left side of the road.
I have to look hard into this.

This is the reason why door on the right side:

A MINI spokesman explained that the placement of the door on the right was dictated by the fuel-tank filler neck's place on the driver's side, and as such, it would have been too expensive to re-engineer the fuel door's location. The MINI mouthpiece went on to say that the automaker realizes this could be a bone of contention with buyers......
