There's no comparison to a ivy bridge core i5. If you perform a search, a ivy bridge i5 is better bang for your money if you mainly use it in gaming, In audio encoding, the new AMD will beat the core i5 and i7 just a little bit.

I am looking to build a new system but not in a rush to do so as the 990FX chipset is getting old(only has pci-e x16 2.0 as to the intel x79 with pci-e x16 3.0) and rumor has it that AMD may switch to focus on the APU and ARM core processors in the future only.

I have an office full of PC with AMD CPU. That is when Intel processors are always lot more expensive than AMD. I have 955 black edition as my home and work PC and it is already overkill for office functions. I would like to support AMD but really don't need such high performance.
